Volkswagen is planning to bring in an automatic version of its premium hatchback, Volkswagen Polo by the mid of 2013. With the craze for automatics beefing up, Polo will be an interesting addition to the segment consisting of Honda Brio, Hyundai i20, Maruti Ritz, Maruti A-Star and Hyundai i10. Paired with 1.6 litre petrol motor, Polo automatic will be loaded with premium features and an exciting new automatic gearbox. A minor facelift with sporty additions, Climatronic AC, Music system with USB and Bluetooth Connectivity is also expected to make way in the new automatic Polo. Rest of the mechanics will be same and the vehicle will churn out top power of 103 bhp and peak torque 153 Nm.

Equipped with a 1.0 litre EcoBoost 120 PS petrol engine and a 1.5 litre TDCi 91 bhp diesel motor, the SUV offers impressive fuel economy of around 15-19 kmpl with petrol and 16-21 kmpl with its diesel motor. With a breath of fresh air, New Year kicks off and so does the mathematics of new car launches in the country. Maruti Suzuki India is all set to unleash facelifted model of its bubbly A Star by January, 2013. Suzuki had earlier launched the facelifted Maruti A-Star (known as Alto in Other global market) in the Chinese auto market in November last year.
The changes in the refurbished model would comprise of new head & tail lamps, tweaked bumpers, new bumpers, revised grill and LED treatment to tail lamps that enhance the sportiness of Maruti A-Star. However, what type of engine would be under its hood is still unknown. We speculate that it would be the same 1.0 litre petrol engine. It will now cost a little over its ongoing model.

Mahindra & Mahindra is warming up to launch a cut short version of its famous first passenger car, Mahindra Verito sedan. The launch is expected to be before the end of this fiscal and will compete with the likes of Maruti Swift Dzire, Tata Indigo eCS and Chevrolet Sail Sedan. Since in recent times, a new segment has cropped up of compact sedans which have been extremely successful and affordable for buyers upgrading from their two box cars to three box ones.
Enjoying the same facelift of the new Verito, the compact sedan will remain unchanged under the hood i.e. it will feature the proven 1.5 litre K9K diesel engine of the bigger Verito. Coming under the excise duty benefits, the compact sedan is speculated to be aggressively tagged in the price bracket as low as 4.5-5.0 lakhs.
