Came into existence in 1994, REVA Electric Car Company is a joint venture of AEV LLC of USA and Maini Group of Bangalore. REVA electric vehicle was first unleashed in 2001 at Bangalore and later, in 2004 it was launched in London as G-Wiz. Company has a good number of its team (around 40 percent) associated only with the Research & Development department. Despite having great approach and technical advancements, Reva needed a solid support in terms of capital and a brand that could grip the market; then Mahindra appeared on the scene.
In the year 2010, Mahindra grabbed the opportunity and acquired the electric car company at a cost of US $15.4 billion and christened its name as Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Pvt Ltd. Presently, the company has one of the largest number of electric vehicles sprinting on global terrains. Mahindra Reva has emerged out as an unparallel expert in the field of electric vehicle with many international patents and several products on their way to be patented shortly.
Since its inception, the electric car company has been able to bag many accolades which include
- Titled of one of the ‘Coolest Companies’ in India by Business Today in 2006

The eco-friendly vehicle making firm is focused mainly on the R&D division in order to chisel innovative products that are user friendly, cost effective and at the same time stylish. Apart from designing vehicle’s contemporary outfit, Mahindra Reva is into developing patented Energy Management System and advance type of batteries that are efficient and power saving.
After tasting decent success with its Reva-i, company is ready to launch its all new sensational Mahindra Reva E2O in November, 2012. The difference between the two products is vast, ranging from exteriors to interiors to the underpinnings but the trump card is the addition of Mahindra badge which guarantee the success of their soon-to-be-launch product in the country.
