Maruti Suzuki Swift has emerged as 2nd most selling car in India in October 2012. Though the lock out at Manesar factory hampered sales counts of Swift causing long waiting period, yet the company  managed to carve Swift’s way in the country  and sold 15,433 units in the month of October. Availability of Swift in both petrol and diesel engines and low maintenance cost has made it highly popular car in Indian market. With its commendable power because of 1.2 L petrol and 1.3 L diesel engines adorned under the hood, Swift has grabbed many titles. The stylish and elegant Swift can be taken home by paying just Rs.4.47 lakh- Rs. 6.82 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) depending on different variants.

Mahindra XUV 500

The more we say, less it is,  when it comes to popularity of Mahindra XUV 500 as this cheetah inspired SUV has proved its worth in market and also put India on global map with its powerful build and feline grace. The SUV is tagged in a price bracket of 11.70 lakh – 14.27 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The previous booking figures of 32,000+ in June and 25,000+ in February this year undoubtedly show the charisma of XUV 500 among Indian people. As of now, company has announced bookings of SUV’s AWD (All Wheel Drive) variant with an initial booking amount of Rs. 40, 000. When previous variants of XUV 500 confirmed its marvellous performance, automatic version will surely amplify XUV 500’s position in the market.

Renault Duster

Few months back, Renault India launched Duster SUV with a starting price of Rs.7.49 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) for its base variant and got so many accolades from Indian people clocking in over 20,000 bookings. Renault diesel is powered with a 1.5 litre dCi K9K diesel engine and boasts of a fuel efficiency of 20.45 km/litre, while petrol variant is housed with a 1.6 litre engine, which churns out 104PS power and gives a fuel mileage of 13.24 Km/litre. Popularity of Duster can be measured in the way that Renault India has hiked the car’s price despite of stiff rivalry present in the segment and still there is no drop down in customer’s response. While petrol Duster got Rs.30, 000 price hike, Renault increased Rs.40, 000 on diesel Duster, effective from October 2012.

Ford Figo

Ford India introduced small Figo in 2010 and in the same year, the cute hatch became highest selling car for the company. And now with the recent introduction of refreshed version of Ford Figo, the cards of American giant are going to be changed. The revamped Figo is launched with a price tag of Rs. 3.85 lakh for base petrol variant and Rs. 4.82 lakh for the base diesel variant (both prices ex-showroom New Delhi) which is exactly the same as before. Auto group claims to offer 100 new features in new Figo without asking an extra penny. The all new Figo is powered with the all new BS IV complaint 1.2L, 1196cc, Sequential Electric Fuel Injection (SEFI) engine, which manages to do well on the mileage front and deliver a good mileage of 15.5 Kmpl on highways.

Hyundai Verna Fluidic 

The South Korean product has spent more than a year on Indian roads and popularity of this brilliantly designed sedan has been tremendous. Powered with both petrol and diesel engines, Verna is claimed to be the segment leader among C segment cars in India. With ergonomic seating style added in the car, the person driving this vehicle surely enjoys every moment of the journey. News says that Hyundai will push Verna’s sales counts by offering automatic gearbox option to the car. Introduction of automatic version will hike the cost by Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 75000. Presently available Hyundai Verna Fluidic can be taken home by paying around Rs.7 lakh to Rs.10 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) depending on the variant picked.
