Tata Nano Likely To Take Taiwanese Route

TECO Electric and Machinery Co., a Taiwanese firm, is planning to import the small wonder Tata Nano from India. The company is targeting to sell this small car among large population of motorcyclists in the country. TECO is based in Taipei and deals in a number of businesses that comprises of home appliances, IT systems, commercial electronics, telecommunications equipments, etc.

The Taiwanese market has a great potential for the small cars like Tata Nano as the island resides a population of 23 million and about 14.6 million scooters and motorcycles. As per the recent speculations in the local media, an upgraded version of Tata Nano that will come equipped with a range of new features including air conditioners, power windows and air bags – could carry a price tag of 270,000 Taiwan dollars ($8,940 US). The car is expected to drive high volumes in the Taiwanese market.

Recently, the firm had imported two Tata Nano cars from India in order to do a research and study on the compatibility of the car with the needs and requirement of the buyers in that market. However, there is no announcement from the company’s side regarding the timeline of the launch of this car, so far.
