Tata Motors June Sales Slumped By 3%

It is the time to check out the sales revenue for the month of June 2012 of various automakers and the reports show that the homegrown car manufacturer Tata Motors was in loss last month with 3% fall in revenue and its total sales stood at 64,341 units.

In June, Tata Motor’s domestic sales of its commercial and passenger cars stood at 58,270 units in contrast to 61,266 units in same period last year, posting a decline of 5%.

Exports of Tata Motors rose by 19% in the same month with 6,071 unit sales as compared to 5,094 units in last year same month.

According to the statement issued by the company, Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle sales in the country posted a hike of 4% at 41,026 units as against to last year in June when the company sold 39,272 units. Light commercial vehicle segment showed a boost of 22% by selling 28,363 units as compared to 23,198 units sold in June last year.

Tata Motors’ medium and heavy vehicle segment exhibited a fall of 21% in sales at 12,663 units from 16,074 units sold in June, last year. Also the passenger car sales sank by 22% in last month to 17,244 units as compared to 21,994 units sold last year in the same month.

The Indian auto major sold 5,605 units of Nano in June, posting a rise of 3% from last year in June when Tata sold 5,452 units of its small car. With 5,332 unit sales of Indica range as against to 8,188 units sold in June 2011, company posted a strike of 35%. On the other hand the Indigo range indicated a slump of 46% at 2,658 units as against to 4,882 units in the year-ago period.
