With Swift bookings crossing 1 lakh mark, Maruti assures no further delays

Country’s largest passenger carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd remains upbeat by the recent issues at Manesar facility and is confident for the timely delivery of its car in this festive season.

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Managing Executive Officer (Marketing and Sales) Mayank Pareek said “The demand for Swift is huge. It is the supply side which we had a problem in the first part of this month, but that is gradually coming to normal levels.”

Unaltered by the confrontation of workers in the Manesar plant, Maruti has assured that there will be no impact on the delivery of Swift and that the pace of production is returning to normal. The maximum shareholder of the hatchback segment cars in the country, Maruti has received massive bookings of 1.08 lakh units for its new Swift, since its launch on August 17.

Replying on the question whether the supply would be hit by the nearing festive season, Mr Mayank was quick to answer, “Not at all. The only issue was with Swift, which is produced from Manesar. We are now producing around 700 units a day.”

He said that company is about to reach the set target of producing 17,000-18,000 units per month. Pareek further added that the company is expecting huge business this festive season but admitted the deteriorating condition of the market.

“The challenge is more with the sentiment rather than the macro-economic issues. However, the festive season provides another opportunity to bring the cheers,” he said.

Expect heavy discounts this season, around 20% more than the last year as per indications from the company.
