Skoda Auto India Aims 50% Sales Hike in 2012

Division of Volkswagen Group, Skoda Auto India is aiming to preserve its strong hold in the Indian auto market and now in 2012 also the brand is expecting to register 50% sales growth in the country. Most of the business by Skoda India is earned by its most popular and in demand sedan Rapid.

The Marketing Head of Skoda Auto India, Mr. Kamal Basu exclaimed, “We are eyeing a good growth this year and aiming to maintain 50% sales hike, which we achieved last year as well in 2011.”

In 2011, Skoda India posted a sales record of selling 30,000 units with 50% hike in contrast to previous year, i.e. 2010. In the first four months of 2012 from January to April, Skoda India sold 14,800 units registering 37% growth as compared to the year ago period.

Skoda Rapid, the ravishing sedan is gathering good sales volume and the automaker believes that it will account for 50-55% of total sales for the company. Mr. Basu commented that as of now the Rapid variant is contributing 40-45% of the total sales and further the brand expects the number to enhance to 50-55% in 2012.

Skoda Rapid’s new version was launched in November 2011 and it is available in a price bracket of Rs. 6.70 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh, both in petrol and diesel options. Skoda India sells five magnificent models in India consisting of Skoda Superb, Skoda Laura, Skoda Fabia, Skoda Yeti and Skoda Rapid.

In order to add more value to its product line-up, the company introduced a new variant of Superb model called as the ‘Superb Ambition’ at a price tag of Rs. 18.09 lakh, ex showroom – Chandigarh.

“As we introduce the Superb Ambition, we are now offering the entire model line-up with greater accessibility. For Skoda, Chandigarh is a significant destination and our vehicles have been well received by the customers here”, as stated by Mr. Basu.
