We all are aware now that leading utility vehicle manufacturer Mahindra and Mahindra has named its new vehicle as ‘Quanto’, which was earlier proclaimed as Mini Xylo and is all ready to hit the roads by the second week of next month. A statement issued by the company quoted that the name of the vehicle Quanto is derived from the word Quantum and it associates with the products’ promised qualities such as more space, more power, more seats and superior performance.

All-new compact SUV Quanto is the smallest offering from Mahindra portfolio based on the ‘Ingenio’ platform and is placed under sub-4 meter length category. So basically the automaker is targeting those customers who are planning to buy a diesel hatchback or entry level sedan but also looking for rugged appeal in the vehicle.

With slashed height under the hood of new Quanto, the power will be supplied from 1.5 liter diesel engine and thus the model will be exempted from the excise duty. Right now Mahindra has not declared the price tag of upcoming sport utility vehicle but sources guess that the model will be placed in a price range of Rs. 5 to 7 lakh.

Though every model from Mahindra holds a significant place in the market but the new model Quanto is bit special as it’s the smallest SUV from M&M’s stable and is exclusively designed for prospective hatchback customers.

President of Mahindra & Mahindra – automotive & farm equipment sectors, Mr. Pawan Goenka mentioned, “With our new product Quanto, we are trying to fill the gap in the Indian car market for a right compact SUV. We are very confident that the Quanto with its exquisite value proposition will definitely create a segment for itself. We are expecting that the model will offer an exciting upgrade to customers who are willing to buy a premium diesel hatchback or entry level diesel sedan.”
