Nissan has finally uncovered much talked about Datsun brand small car K2 at an event in New Delhi today. The car called as ‘Datsun Go’ has decent features in terms of small car segment. The first car from the Datsun brand after 32 years will be officially launched next year January at Indian Auto Expo. The small low cost car was unveiled by Renault-Nissan alliance president Carlos Ghosn.
The five door hatchback seems to be a cross breeding of Micra and Skoda Fabia. At the mechanical front the car is powered by 1.2L petrol engine producing 76PS and 104Nm of torque. The engine is coupled with a five-speed manual transmission gearbox. At the exterior front Datsun Go boast of a hexagonal honeycomb grille along with chrome outline, unpainted mirrors, no fog lamps, single wiper and lift type door handles. The small car is attired with Apollo Acelere 3G tyres and 13 inch steel wheels.
Mr. Ghosn also announced that the car will be launched next year and will be priced under INR 4 lakhs. Also other Datsun models will be launching over the course of the year as reported earlier. After unveiling the car in India, it will now be showcased in other potential markets such as Indonesia, Russia and Africa. Datsun Go when launched in India will be pitted against Hyundai Eon and Maruti Alto 800 in the small car segment in India. The car could probably be exported from India to other overseas destinations.
