M&M Will Promote SsanYong Vehicles in South Africa

Mahindra & Mahindra’s subsidiary associate Mahindra South Africa (MSA) is all set to market SsangYong products in the country to gain popularity internationally. This is the first overseas destination to promote SsanYong products after M&M acquired 70% stake in the Korean auto company last year.

The company unveiled two new products namely Korando sports utility vehicle (SUV) and Actyon sports recreational vehicle (SRV) in South Africa to market  Ssangyong brand and also to make its strong hold in the nation.

Both the newly introduced models available in the South African market are updated versions along with brilliantly competitive pricing.

According to chief executive of Mahindra and Mahindra’s international business, Ruzbeh Irani mentioned that both Ssangyong and Mahindra aim exactly similar and are unitedly focused on the utility segment of the market.

Irani further mentioned, “We are looking for various options in terms of distribution channels in different international auto market. Thereafter we will utilize the plan to expand the global presence of both our vehicle brands.”

For the very first year, MSA aims to sell of 1,500 units of Ssangyong products and then it expects the growth gradually in the next five years along with new introductions. As per last year’s sales business, the South Korean automaker sold only 500 units in South Africa.

The Chief Executive of MSA, Mr. Ashok Thakur exclaimed, “The South African market will soon confront new improved SsangYong car launches by mid 2013.”
