Mercedes to Unveil 2012 ML350 CDI on May 15th

The much anticipated vehicle ML350 CDI from Mercedes Benz is expected to hit the Indian shores by 15th of May 2012 after a long halt due to the hike in excise duty in the recently announced Union Budget 2012-13.

This recent increase in duty taxes has forced automakers to make their available products expensive and has also made them delay their important launches. Mercedes Benz showcased its 2012 ML350 CDI at the Delhi Auto Expo held in January and was supposed to get it launched by April, but the budget altered the plans of the German luxury auto giant and now the launch is likely to take place on May 15th in capital city Delhi.

As per sources, the company will bring in the first batch of ML350 SUVs via CBU unit, thus attracting an excise duty of 75%. Thereafter, Mercedes will start assembling the vehicles at its Chakan facility unit from September onwards. The local assembling of the SUVs will definitely cut down the excise duty, making the brand gather more sales.

All-new Mercedes Benz ML350 CDI will steal its power from 3.0 liter V6 diesel engine, capable of delivering a peak power of 258 bhp and impressive torque of 620 Nm. Coming with Mercedes’ terrifically acclaimed 7G-tronic transmission, the vehicle cruises from 0-100 kmph in 7.4 seconds with top speed of 224kmph.

The Mercedes Benz ML350 CDI will compete with rival SUVs such as Audi Q5 and BMW X3.
