The reigning automobile manufacturer of the country, Maruti Suzuki has posted 4.99% drop in its May month’s business with the sales of 98,884 units. Last year in the same period, Maruti sold 1,04,073 units, mentioned in the statement issued by the auto giant.
Maruti Suzuki India’s domestic sales figure stood at 89,478 units in May as against to year ago period when it sold 93,519 units, posting a fall of 4.32%. In terms of exports, Maruti sale was slashed by 10.88% to 9,406 units during the last month in comparison to 10,554 units in the year-ago period, the mentioned by the company.
In May, company’s total passenger car sales in the local market also recorded a downfall of 5.94% to 72,309 units as against to last year in the same month when Maruti sold 76,874 units.
The Japanese carmaker sold total of 29,895 units during last month from 42,125 units in May 2011 from its mini-segment, which comprises of M800, A-Star, Alto and WagonR, registering a slash of 29.03%. Whereas from its compact car segment, which includes models Estilo, Swift and Ritz, Maruti sold 24,290 units with a hike of 14.66% in sales as compared to last year’s same month sales count of 21,185 units.
The DZire posted a tremendous rise of 63.77% with 17,707 unit sales in May 2012 from just 10,812 units in the same month last year. Maruti Suzuki’s SX4 sedan sales recorded a dip of 85.01% to just 405 units last month as against to 2,702 units in May 2011. Even luxury sedan Kizashi experienced a drop of 76% in May sales with 12 cars sold from 50 unit sales in the year ago period.
