India’s most desired auto brand, Maruti Suzuki will soon debut itself in the multi-purpose vehicle segment of the country with its all-new upcoming model Ertiga. The new MPV from Maruti will help the brand get a presence across all the segments, completing its portfolio of passenger vehicles.

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is anticipated to be launched in India by next month in April. This will be a global launch and the company has made a total investment of around Rs. 400 crore for the vehicle’s development cost.

The Managing Executive Officer – Marketing and Sales of Maruti Suzuki India, Mr. Mayank Pareek mentioned, “We are just executing greater plans to establish a new segment of compact MPVs, just as we did with Swift in the hatchback segment. We have not been present in the MPV segment despite being the overall market leader in the country.”

He further remarked that with Ertiga, company will now be present in all segments and have a complete range of passenger vehicles in India.

Also the new MPV is very significant for Maruti Suzuki, Mr. Pareek also stated, “The MUV and SUV segment in India is about 30,000 units a month. We will now have a presence there with the new vehicle and surely we will bring a change. There are around 15 million cars running on Indian shores and in the country many customers are looking to upgrade to a new vehicle. But this is also true that not all are considering bigger cars, instead want to opt for a family oriented MPV and that’s what we are targeting.”

The new Ertiga will be launched in both petrol and diesel variants with specifications of 1.4 liter petrol engine and 1.3 liter diesel powertrain. As per company’s details, the petrol version of Ertiga will offer a fuel efficiency of 16.2 kmpl and 20.77 kmpl will be offered by diesel version.
