Mahindra Scorpio’s Applaudable Success in India

The largest utility vehicle producer of the country Mahindra & Mahindra has many reasons to celebrate its success in the country. Whether the credit is issued to all-new XUV500 or facelifted Xylo but one SUV model cannot be missed from Mahindra’s stable and that is the Scorpio. No matter what age it holds the liking for Scorpio is still counting more and it continues to be the strong seller for the carmaker.

2012 is considered as Mahindra Scorpio’s 10th year of sale after being launched way back in 2002. And after such a long time now, Mahindra Scorpio is consistently doing wonders in India with successive sales growth of 50K units.

Counting the power from the time of introduction, Mahindra Scorpio was available with 2.6 liter direct injection turbo diesel engine, which was crafted along with Austrian engineering firm AVL. Thereafter in year 2003, the superb SUV grabbed its power from 2.6 liter direct injection engine. And then when Mahindra introduced in the BS4 emission norms, Scorpio boasted common rail diesel engine in 2005, regarding itself the first Indian vehicle to get such an engine.

So with few upgraded mightiness, last year Mahindra unveiled the entry level of the Scorpio with 2.5 liter CRDI diesel engine, churning out peak power of 75Bhp. Moreover Scorpio is also available with four-wheel drive option in the LX variant and also with 2.2 liter mHawk turbo diesel engine. Moreover on the charts is a pick up version of the Scorpio called the Getaway, Mahindra also offers six-speed automatic gearbox on the top end variant along with five-speed manual transmission as standard feature.

So, whether Mahindra is planning new SUV models for the country or not, the Scorpio is still earning good for the company in terms of business.
