Mahindra & Mahindra to Bring In SUVs with Ssangyong

Mahindra and Mahindra, the leading Indian automaker is collecting accolades for its superb SUV XUV500 and with some great appreciation it is now quite keen to bring a range of SUVs with its acquired South Korean auto brand SsangYong Motor Company.

The company’s Vice Chairman, Mr. Anand Mahindra said that the major utility vehicle manufacturer of India is focusing on developing a new SUV platform in association with its Korean automaker Ssangyong. This new venture will initiate the future launches of Mahindra & Mahindra.

Moreover, M&M is keenly working towards uplifting its struggling sectors of two-wheeler and heavy-commercial ventures as the segments are not keeping up to the pace and have failed to attract counts.

When inquired whether the company is losing focus on its major products present in the country, Mr. Mahindra expressed, “M&M is a marathon runner. We have been counted out so often, we have been questioned so often about whether we are biting off more than we can chew, whether we have got too much on our plate. These questions I have been encountering for the last two decades and now I can say that we have the conviction and the plan and we have good execution skills.”

Now with the success of XUV500, Mahindra is aggressively planning to craft new SUV platforms with Ssangyong in order to give roll-out all-new product range for the brand.

Mr. Mahindra further added, “We have more winners coming up in our core area of SUVs. One of the great strengths of the Ssangyong buy is that we will be sharing platforms. So the next big thing that you will see from Mahindra will come from the platforms we will share with Ssangyong.”
