The American automobile manufacturer, Ford Motor Company is turning its focus on Indian auto market with its plans of unveiling a bunch of small cars in the country by year 2015. The launch of few small cars by Ford is an objective to enhance its market share in the nation.
Basically Ford is planning to craft a car that is being considered below its very popular model or entry-level car Figo. Moreover the brand is also considering an option to launch its premium hatchback Focus in the country. So Ford India will launch atleast six new models in India by 2015 apart from its compact SUV EcoSport, which is expected to hit the shores by early next year.
The President of Asia Pacific and Africa, Ford Motor Corporation, Mr. Joe Hinrichs remarked, “We are capable enough to craft plus sell small and cheap cars than the Figo. Our most appreciated model Figo was not part of the global portfolio and we built the vehicle from scratch for the customers of India and even for other growing markets. Figo’s success has offered us a hope and confidence and now we are aware of what Indian customer desire.”
The overall sales of Ford in India made it gain 3.2% share in the domestic auto market with 92,748 unit sales. And its best model Figo accounted for over 75% of the total sales. Ford India aims to have a better and enhanced market share in the country with few more exclusive small cars along with premium hatchback Focus.
