Ford India Registered Record Sales in 2010

The Indian subsidiary of the US based leading car maker Ford Motors announced on Monday that it has registered record sales of 83,887 units in the calendar year 2010. It is the highest ever annual sales of the company in the Indian market. The year 2010 has been an outstanding year for Ford in India as the company managed to register nearly triple digit growth rates through out the year.  ’Ford recorded an impressive annual sales increase of 184 percent in 2010′, a senior company official said.

“From Jan to Dec 2010, the company sold 83,887 units and nearly tripled its sales volume against a total of 29,488 cars sold in 2009,” said Mr. Anurag Mehrotra, Vice President-Marketing Ford India Private Limited, while briefing to the reporters on Friday. The company’s latest hatchback emerged as the best selling Ford car in India during the year. The car was awarded with the most prestigious ‘ Indian Car of  the Year 2010’.

In Dec 2010, the company reported a 172 percent increase in its sales year-on-year, as compared to the units sold in the same month preceding year. Moreover, the company increased its dealership network to over 170 dealers spread across 100 cities of the country, in year 2010.
