US based major automobile manufacturer Ford officially held the ground breaking ceremony for its second state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Sanand, Gujarat. For the commencement of vehicle production and engine manufacturing in Gujarat unit, Ford is making an investment of around $ 1 billion.
As per sources, the new facility plant of American auto giant Ford will be pouring out around 5,000 jobs. Moreover, the manufacturing plant is speculated to have an initial annual capacity of rolling out 2.40 lakh vehicles and 2.70 lakh engines. And the plant will produce both diesel and petrol engines on the same assembly lines.
The first engine and vehicle are expected to come off the line in 2014, as mentioned in the company’s statement. To enhance the production and worldwide sales, Ford is already on its way to craft seven manufacturing plants in India, Thailand and China and the Gujarat plant is one among them.
President and Managing Director of Ford India, Mr. Michael Boneham quoted, “With this groundbreaking, Ford is planting the seeds for a prosperous future in Sanand for our future employees, suppliers, dealers and customers.”
Ford’s President Asia Pacific Mr. Joe Hinrichs expressed in his statement that these new state-of-the-art facilities will further help the company accomplish its goals of confronting better growth and success worldwide with 50% increased sales by mid decade to around 8 million vehicles per year.
