Fiat India Uninterested To Introduce Any New Model till 2013-14

The Italian auto giant Fiat is presently showing lack of interest for introducing any new car model in India and the major reason behind this is that the carmaker is looking beyond current scenario and is keen to refresh its line-up for the local industry. Fiat India desires to engraft new strategy for enhancing its sales volume in domestic auto market.

According to Fiat’s strategy, company wants to halt its plan of exploring domestic market and would not introduce any new car model till 2013-14. This directly indicates that none of the models from Fiat will be unveiled as of now, as previously it was announced that the company will bring small car next year.

Last year in January, Fiat declared that it is keen to bring a small car in the country, which will be positioned below the Punto and Palio. The company formerly mentioned that it was working on the same project and the expected launch of the car will be by 2012, but now all seems gloomy and depressed. Currently the Italy based automaker offers only three models in India from its stable comprising of Punto, Linea and Palio Stile. The firm surely requires a new product in order to raise its value in the market plus earn some sales numbers in the country.

Chief Executive Officer of Fiat India Mr. Rajeev Kapoor said, “Fiat’s move is aimed at reaping benefits from its current range of cars. There would be no new car launch in short-term. It would come around 2013-14.”
