The current auto product that is creating a buzz in the Indian auto industry is Maruti Suzuki’s all new Swift Dzire, which is the talk of the town just because of its viciously diminished shape at the rear. Though the old Dzire has earned loads of accolades from across the nation for its look, performance and specifications, it was high time for the sedan to get a facelift but instead the largest automaker of India blessed it with a rear-lift, pretty outrageous to look at.  So what was on the minds of Maruti when it was offering its best selling sedan a new look, simple answer is that the auto giant wanted to position the new Dzire in the sub-4 meter segment for cutting the excise duty.

Although after so many razzes and taunts, the new Dzire 2012 seems to come with all the more features and specifications, somewhat around 150 in number to attract the prospective and desirable customers. So, the desirable Dzire looks quite similar to the outgoing version from the front appearance and one can definitely not distinguish between the old and the new model. But as we step forward, the dissimilarity is noticeable, as rear-end of Dzire is horrifically haltered to shrink the length of the sedan. Though the rear appears exclusive but truly, no wise auto buff will appreciate the same when he can opt for a hatchback Swift, which is equally profitable in the same price bracket.

With dual-tone designing of the cabin, the interiors will surely gain accolades as this is a superb modification from that former all-black look. Best is that the rear legroom is enhanced by 20mm, valuable change for the back passengers who need to relax. Apart from creating a comfort at the rear, the new Dzire is also heightened by 25mm with increased 5mm width and 40mm longer wheelbase than the current model.

Of course with so much space, the compromise is bit required, this time at the boot area as Maruti Suzuki aimed to squeeze the vehicle in 3,995mm length and so the boot space is confined to 316 liters.    Moreover, the leading carmaker is clarifying its shrunk boot space by exclaiming that an average user barely requires the boot space for carrying luggage. Poor presumptions from the most admired automaker of the nation. Hope that the vehicle is adopted without any compromises by the inter-city taxi firm.

Coming to the engine specifications, the new 2012 variant of Dzire steals its power from the K12 M VVT petrol engine that produces 85.8 bhp @ 6000 rpm and 11.6 kgm @ 4000 rpm along with automatic gearbox (CVT). On the diesel front, the Dzire come power packed with 1.3 liter DDiS diesel motor, capable of churning out 73.9 bhp @ 4000 rpm and 19.37 kgm @ 2000 rpm.
