Duster- Low Cost SUV from Renault Nissan to Hit the Market by 2012

Renault Nissan expects to make India as its 11th largest market and planning to launch some exciting models in coming two years. It is planning to hit the Indian automobile market with its localize SUV, Duster and several small vehicles using the Nissan platform. All these vehicles will be specifically designed for India. Duster will hit the market by 2012.

Renault is ready to bring out six locally produced models in India by 2013. Apart from its plans of launching six locally produced vehicles, the company is also keen enough to dash into the small car segment of Indian automobile market which is more lucrative than other segments of the market. For this too, Renault will produce models specifically designed for the local market.

The company’s actual influence in the Indian market will get displayed with the launch of Koleos and Fluence which it is planning to roll out in the near future. Talking about its low cost Duster, it is likely that it offers greatly required pricing power to enter the segment dynamically.

Renault will be using its Chennai plant for manufacturing Duster, its low cost Sports Utility Vehicle. It is estimated to be popular with the entry level consumers because of its popular 1.5 liter DCI diesel engine with 85/1050bhp peak power. The company doesn’t seem to be satisfied with launching just one car namely Duster as it is also planning to launch small cars based on V platform by the later part of the same year.
