Maruti Suzuki is going through a setback phase with month long labor unrest but with flourishing bookings for new Swift that crossed a mark of 1,08,000 units, the company is truly discovering its real worth in the country and the love & trust of customers in the brand name. This is the highest booking ever recorded by any automaker in India.

Though the leading carmaker in the Indian auto industry is rolling out 700 units daily from its two manufacturing plants based in Manesar and Gurgaon but the new Swift is available to customers with a waiting period of five months for the petrol variants while more than six months for diesel versions. This is actually quite tough for the Japanese auto brand especially when the market is bit sluggish. Also in last few months with immense labor conflicts the industry has confronted increase in interest rates plus frequent hike in petrol prices, directly affecting the sales along with sudden demand for diesel run cars.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd holds the view that the prolonged waiting period for new Swift will not hamper the company as customers are loyal to the model as well as quality associated with the brand. Maruti expresses that people will not shift their choices to another car and instead wait for the model to reach them. But surely there is always a possibility of preference especially because this is the festive time and many automakers are queued up to introduce their new models. And therefore, company is planning new strategies to ramp up its production output and for the same Maruti has hired around 850 ITI trained workers.

With an over lakh booking for Swift, this is a sunshine in rain for Maruti but the production is upto the mark according to industry reports but officials also fear that the company may undergo loss of around Rs. 1000 crore in turnover due to hindered sales and halt in production leading to enlarged waiting period. And the current situation will require ample of time to come into a flow like before.
