Despite Slow Market, Duster, Ertiga , Dzire Drove the Demands

The Fiscal year 2012-13 bothered Indian auto industry very much and despite mane new launches and showers of discounts, automakers could not attain the desired equations. While the sales of auto industry fell 7% year on year basis in last fiscal, some new models even could not get an introduction ceremony. Though, almost all the vehicles segments witnessed sales decline, the highest-selling entry-level and compact cars gets big punch. However, utility vehicles and SUV were able to impel the demands.

While, Duster SUV with 40,000 unit’s sales stood as most successful launch of the year for Renault, the Ertiga MPV proved itself as another victorious model for Maruti Suzuki India.  Other models that could prove their worth for Indian consumers in 2012-13 were Maruti’s Swift, Dzire, Hyundai i20, Toyota Innova and Mahindra XUV 500.

 

Few Carmakers to invest Rs. 11,000 Crore for Capacity Expansion

Despite all the unfavourable market conditions of dropping out sales, declining profit margins and diminishing capacity utilisation, some of the carmakers are eyeing at long term potentials in India. And for the same, 5 autogiants including Maruti Suzuki, Ford, Honda, Toyota and Renault-Nissan are planning to spend Rs. 11,000 crore on additional capacity building for 1 million cars. Though the carmakers have lined up big investments keeping in mind the competitive nature of the market, a fear of surplus production is bothering them.

Currently the Indian passenger vehicle market is operating at 60-65% of capacity, which is one of the lowest levels in the last 5 years. So, Industry experts believe that with inadequate 2% growth in FY12 and a drop last year, it is suspicious if market comes out of gloomy phase. And if this does not happen, huge idle capacity will force auto industry fall in more losses. Moreover, even the launch of 10-15 new cars from Ford, Honda and Renault-Nissan may not actually inflate the market

 

MSI to Launch Premium Stingray Variant of WagonR

With an aim to bring back Maruti Suzuki WagonR to top 3 models position, the largest carmaker of the country, MSI is planning to introduce an upgraded version of the said hatch in Indian market. To be positioned above its predecessor, the all new variant christened as WagonR Stingray with lots of new changes hit Japanese market last year. And now with the same updates, the car is soon to make its debut in India too.

According to the persons close to development, the upcoming WagonR edition is one of the key models for Maruti to gain chunk of volumes in this year and company would perhaps introduce the car in Monsoon season in the country. The new swank variant of WagonR, to be sold along with existing siblings will make MSI to space out new finest spot for this car.

 

Workers to Resume Production at Mahindra’s Igatpuri Plant

Mahindra’s Igatpuri  Engine plant near Nashik that produces engine for XUV 500, Bolero, Xylo, Genio and Maxximo had been burning from workers agitation since last 13 days. But finally with the intervention of Shiv sena President Uddhav Thackeray, the production is expected to be resumed from tomorrow, said a union leader. The 13 days agitation that began on April 9th has been decided to call off agreeing reinstatement of two suspended employees.

Speaking more on the issue, President of Bhartiya Kamgar Sena, affiliated to Shiv Sena, Suryakant Mahadik said that with the meeting of Pawan Goenka, President of Automotive and Farm Equipment division of Mahindra Group and Uddhav Thackeray, management has decided to remove chargesheet proceedings against two suspended workers. So the protest will be called off and work will be recommenced, he added.

 

Merc India to Launch 2013 GL-Class in India on May 16th

The German carmaker Mercedes is steadily trying to get number one position in Indian market and slew of launches in this year will indeed prove the legitimacy of this fact. Out of these new models, the new generation GL-class is going to be launched first on May 16, this year. Carrying the considerable new looks, the new GL-class edition looks like Mercedes M- class with front of the car, featuring daytime driving lights. Merc India Inaugurates New Dealership in Vashi, Mumbai

Trying hard to snatch number one position in Indian luxury car market, the German auto Giant Mercedes has opened its 57th dealer’s outlet in Film city Mumbai. Located at on Palm Beach Road, in Satra Plaza, Vashi, the new showroom is spread over 5,000 square feet are and will serve Merc customers in the area. The new outlet has space of displaying 8 cars and has a cafe inside it. To assist prospective customers regarding any details they want, 20 well proficient personnel staff has been arranged there.

Honda Expects to Sell 50,000 Units of Amaze In Current Fiscal

The wholly-owned subsidiary Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) of Japanese carmaker Honda is set to take back its shining position in Indian market. And recently launched Amaze sedan is indeed proving all these endeavours. The auto group is aiming to sell around 50,000 units of Amaze in the current financial year in the country and will launch 5 new models in next 3 years, said a senior official, Honda Cars India.

Speaking about the matter, Jnaneswar Sen, , company’s Senior vice-president (Sales & Marketing) remarked that due to constraint capacity of 1.2 lakh units at its plants, Honda would be competent to develop only 4000-5000 units of Amaze per month. With the expectation of selling around 50,000 units of Amaze in India, Honda would surely mark its venture into the diesel segment.

 

Maruti Swift Dzire & Ertiga MPV Get Good Design Award 2013 Honour

BMW India Starts Local Production of Mini Countrymen

With many automakers gradually gravitating towards local production and Mini Series witnessing consistently growing demand, the largest luxury auto giant In India, BMW has started local manufacturing of Mini Countrymen at its Chennai plant. For the first time, being produced outside the Europe, Mini Countrymen will be offered in both diesel and petrol power train options. The production is expected to be started next month and commercialisation of the same is likely to be done by the end of the year, said Robert Frittrang, managing director, BMW India.

The new diesel variants will be offered for the first time in India and will be christened as MINI Cooper D Countryman and MINI Cooper D Countryman High. The petrol variant in the name of MINI ONE Countryman will be tagged at the lowest price label in Mini portfolio in India.
