Things to remember while going for a test drive

Test drive is the integral part of car purchase. Whenever you plan to buy a new or used car, test drive helps you to determine the pros and cons of the car, thereby, helping you to examine whether the test driven vehicle would suit according to your need or not. Test drive can be considered as the best way to explore the actual benefits and shortcomings of the car. This is the reason why all the auto-experts suggest to test drive the car prior you go for its purchase. Here are some general things that you should always remember while you go for test drive:-

1)First of all you need to check your necessities and your budget, prior you plan for the test drive. Go to the dealer and look for the suitable cars in your budget. If the first dealer or available cars are not satisfactory, try for some other dealers or other brand cars in your budget. For e.g. if you are not satisfied with Chevrolet Beat, you can have a look at some other competing cars like Maruti Wagon R, Maruti Ritz, Hyundai i10, Nissan Micra etc.

2)Shortlist the cars that you have planned to test drive. We advise you to test drive all the preferred vehicles within a time span of two to three days as it would help you judge the differences amongst all the cars quite easily. Ensure that you have ample of time while you go for the test drive so that you can give more time on handling & driving the car, rather than taking just one round of drive.

3)Always make sure that you concentrate on driving while you go for test drive. Sometimes, the sales person might intend to tell you some interesting facts about the car, but you can simply ask him to tell information about the car as and when you are done with test drive.

4)Make sure that you test drive the car both on city streets and on highways. Change the lanes on the road, check the handling, examine the air-conditioner and see how the steering and brakes work. Always check the road visibility from the car.

5)It is advisable to go for the test drive with someone who has bit of knowledge about the cars. He might notice some additional facts about the car that you might not have noticed. Moreover, you can ask him to sit on the rear seat and make him examine the comforts levels.

6)Test drive more than one car in the minimum span of time slot. This would help you to find out comparisons amongst all the models and choose the best one from all the test driven vehicles.
