The Japanese auto giant Toyota is a real head turner in the automotive industry and so are its products, specially its mighty and muscular MPV Innova, which surely doesn’t need any introduction along with its smaller aggressive sibling Fortuner. Both the hefty and incredible vehicles from Toyota line up are exquisitely placed in the domestic auto industry and have played a very keen role in the sales growth and expansion of the brand Toyota in the country. Also new-gen Innova and Fortuner are based on Toyota’s IMV platform – international innovative multipurpose vehicle. So let’s dig into the two herculean vehicles from the leading automaker’s valley, Toyota.

Exteriors:-

Of course the newly unveiled Innova 2012 has to come with some refreshed up front expression that makes the vehicle all the more desirable and impressive. This time no tear drop headlamps, instead the vehicle has got new warp around headlamps along with new design alloy wheels and a freshly patterned bumper, making the exterior look all the more magnificent. New Innova 2012 has preserved its class of interior department with extra tinge of sophistication and elegance, offering its passengers a great amount of relaxation and safe ride. The inner cabin is all the more enriched from its older bro with quality plastics in beige shade, dual tone cabin, MID (Multi Information Display), Optitron Combimeter with illumination control, etc.

All-new Fortuner from Toyota’s stable is accentuated with lavish interiors that are quite attractive to offer enough comfort and ease to the passengers. The powerful engine offers 132PS of massive power @ 5600rpm and top torque of 181Nm @ 4000rpm. Taking into account the diesel variant, the Innova comes empowered with 2.5 liter common rail diesel motor, offering a fine output of 102PS @ 3600rpm and peak torque of 200Nm @ 1400-3400rpm. Both the versions are teamed up with five-speed manual transmission. The petrol version comes with top speed limit of 179 kmph and can cruise from 0-100 mark in 12.5 second whereas diesel option covers the same slot in 17.4 seconds with highest speed of 149 kmph.

Under the refined hood, Toyota Fortuner attains its capability from 3.0 liter common rail diesel engine with ultra power of 168bhp @ 3600rpm and strong torque of 343Nm @ 1400-3400rpm. Now the new-gen version comes with 2WD alternative as well with one of these powertrains linked to four-speed automatic transmission. Checking out the acceleration level, the fervent Fortuner sprints from 0-100 kmph in 14.5 seconds with top speed of 176 kmph.

Mileage:-

The new face lift variant of Innova (Petrol) offers a fuel mileage of 8.3 kmpl in city and 12.5 kmpl on the highway. The diesel engine of the MPV provides a fuel efficiency of 10.2 kmpl in city and 13.5 kmpl on highways.

The tough and tidier Toyota Fortuner provides a decent fuel economy of 7 kmpl in city and 11 kmpl on highways.

Toyota, the Japanese carmaker has offered the new Innova a price tag between Rs. 8.48 lakh to Rs. 12.80 lakh (Ex-showroom New Delhi).
