Interior features embrace leather & chrome finish gear knob, Clutch footrest, Coat hook, Luggage hook, etc.

Scintillating Swift has also got redefined interiors with new steering on which the controls for music/ telephone are mounted. The inside is now more spacious thanks to the increased length and width of the hatchback. The black upholstery is kept similar in the new Maruti Suzuki Swift 2011 model.

Volkswagen Polo exhibits well mated and trimmed interiors that would make you fall in love with it at the first glance. Moreover, the seating posture of Polo gives you an enhanced level of comforts. The front and rear cabins have sufficient space to stretch legs and the height of this car can accommodate even a tall passenger easily.

Engine, Specifications & Performance:-

Hyundai i20 is packed with a 1.2-litre VTVT Kappa engine which belts out 84 PS of maximum power at 5200 rpm and 11.4 kgm of peak torque at 4000 rpm. The engine is mated to 5-speed manual transmission. It is also available in an automatic version. Mated with 6-speed manual transmission, the 1.4 litre diesel engine produces top power of 90 Ps at 4000 rpm and terrific torque of 22.4 kgm at 1750-2750 rpm. The 1.2 litre kappa engine variant sprints from 0-100 kmph in just 15.2 seconds with maximum speed of 154 kmph. The diesel version accelerates form 0-100 kmph in fiery 13.2 seconds with a top speed of 166 kmph.

On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki Swift is blessed with 1298cc, 4 Cylinder, 16 valves petrol engine. This powerful engine is capable of producing maximum power of 87 bhp at 4000 rpm and a peak torque of 113 Nm at 4500 rpm. The 1.3 L Multijet diesel engine from Fiat is doing the duties in the new Swift as well. This engine offers an impressive power of 75 bhp at 4000 rpm along with generating thumping torque of 190 Nm at 2000 rpm. Both the engines are mated with 5 Manual gears.

Volkswagen Polo is available in 1.2 liter petrol and diesel variants. The 1.2 liter petrol variant of the car churns maximum power of 75PS at 5400 rpm and peak torque of 110Nm at 3750 rpm, whereas its diesel variant churns maximum power of 75PS at 4200 rpm and peak torque of 180 Nm at 2000 rpm. The 1.6 L petrol version breaks the 100 km/h speed mark in just 11.1 seconds with a top speed of 164 kmph while the diesel version takes 14.4 seconds to cross same slot with a top speed of 183.8 kmph.

In the engine section, it’s Maruti Swift that beats i20 and Polo.

The next generation Hyundai i20 boasts of Rear Parking Camera, Fully Automatic Temperature Control, Clean Air-Cluster ionizer for fresh air, Supervision Cluster, Smart Key with Push button feature, Steering Mounted Audio and Bluetooth controls, Tilt & telescopic steering, Multi Information Display, 2-DIN CD/MP3 Audio System with 4 speakers and 2 tweeters, USB, Aux-in and Bluetooth connectivity.

The convenient features comprise of AC with climate control, power windows, rear defogger, dash integrated MP3/FM and rear wiper. Comfortable leather seats with foldable rear seat option, remote central locking, remote boot and remote fuel filler add to the comfort level of the car. Apart from these, adjustable steering, tinted glass, both side electric door mirrors, manually regulated driver seat and steering mounted control completes the list of convenient options.

Volkswagen Polo comes loaded with a set of exciting features like; Air Conditioner, Power Windows, Power steering, Height adjustment for driver seat, Tilt and telescopic steering wheel, ABS, Dual Front Airbags, Front and Rear fog lamps, Child door locks, Side Impact Beams etc.

Mileage:-

Hyundai i-Gen i20 Kappa engine returns with an overall fuel efficiency of 15-17 kmpl while the diesel i20 offers an impressive mileage of 18 kmpl -22 kmpl.

Maruti Swift delivers an impressive mileage of around 15 – 18.5 Kmpl whereas the diesel version returns with overall fuel efficiency of 17 – 20 Kmpl.

Volkswagen Polo 1.2 liter petrol delivers mileage of 13 – 17 kmpl while the 1.2 liter diesel variant offers mileage of 16 – 20 kmpl.

Price:-

The fluidic Hyundai i20 is tagged in the price bracket of Rs 4.73 lakh – Rs 7.67 lakh whereas

Maruti Swift is shelved in the range of Rs 4.22 lakh to Rs 6.38 lakh and Volkswagen Polo is placed in the price slot of Rs 4.61 lakh – Rs 7.12 lakh (Prices ex-showroom New Delhi).

Verdict:-

Summarizing the overall comparison, we rate Maruti Suzuki Swift to be a slightly better deal followed by new Hyundai i20 and Volkswagen Polo.
