Check the Features wise Comparison of Maruti Swift Dzire and Toyota Etios

Update:Maruti Suzuki finally launched new Swift Dzire on 1st February,2012. Maruti Suzuki astonished the car enthusiasts by unveiling its sensational compact entry level sedan Swift Dzire 2012. With the old Dzire sales still cruising smoothly, India’s largest passenger car maker took a decision to give its best selling sedan a premium touch. The revamped three box vehicle is currently the hottest topic in the media industry with its inching launch date (1^st February expected). On the other hand, Toyota’s first entry level sedan Etios was grabbed with both hands in Indian auto market. The Japanese brand has durability and trust to their name which they have earned in all these years. Comparing the new Dzire and Etios is always a tough call; let’s check out how they fare against each other with respect to Exteriors, Interiors, Engine, Features, Mileage and Price.

Exteriors:-

The all new Maruti Swift Dzire 2012 comes with revamped exteriors having Chromed front grill, Stylish headlamps, Sporty alloys, Perfectly blending boot with overall outfit, Turn indicators on ORVMs, Stylish bumpers, etc. Even the tail lamps are better incorporated compared to its predecessor. Total length is brought inside 4 meters thus boot space is reduced to 316 litres.

Toyota Etios is also sculpted to perfection with chromed smiling grill and aggressive front headlamps turning the eyeballs. The terrific fit and finish is a plus point with Etios, coupled with distinctive character lines and athletic side skirts. Dynamic body colored front and rear bumpers add dignity to this stylish sedan. Good boot space of 595 litres is embraced in the scintillating sedan.

Interiors:-

Built on the new Swift’s platform, Maruti Swift Dzire 2012 has got capacious interiors inspite of the reduced length. The cabin height and width has been marginally increased offering good all round comfort and space. New Steering Wheel, Integrated Audio System and Auto Climate Control along with a dash of silver garnishing, leather trims and wooden finish coupled with the lighter beige and black upholstery contribute to the gleaming cabin of the new Dzire.

Cabin quality of Toyota Etios is slightly poorer compared to what Toyota generally offers. The red contour lining on the seats, leather wrapped steering column and stylish gear knob make the ambience thrilling. Automatic climate control is missed even in the top end variant of the Etios. The high end comfort level with enough of head and legroom for its five occupants ensure comfort with safety.

Engine, Specifications & Performance:-

The all new dazzling Dzire 2012 is blessed with 1.2-litre VVT petrol engine churning 86 bhp of top power along with generating ultimate torque of 114 Nm at 4000 rpm and a 1.3-multijet diesel engine that belts out 75 bhp of maximum power and 190 Nm of peak torque. The petrol vehicle takes of 12.8 seconds to cruise from 0-100 kmph with a top speed of 150 kmph while the diesel one takes 13.8 seconds to cover the same slot with a top speed of 169 kmph.

The all new Toyota Etios is imparted with 1.5 L petrol engine offering max power of 88 bhp and peak torque of 132 Nm. While a four-cylinder, 1.4-litre D4D diesel engine delivers 67 bhp of maximum power and 17.34 kgm of peak torque. The engine is linked to 5-speed manual transmission which offers smooth ride. Etios races from 0 to 100 kmph in just 11.4 seconds and has a top speed of 173 kmph.

Features:-

Dynamic Dzire 2012 will come with more than 150 added features compared to its present model. Power Steering, Integrated turn indicators on ORVMs, Power Windows, Automatic Climate Control, Rear Seat Centre Armrest, Tilt Steering wheel with Audio controls, Cigarette Lighter, Front and rear fog lamps, Alloy wheels, etc are some of the features embraced.

The terrific Toyota Etios is also loaded with exciting features like Internally Adjustable ORVM, Speedometer, Luggage Room Lamp, Passenger – Side Sun visor with Mirror, Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel, Day/Night inside Rear View Mirror and Chrome Accented Air Vent. Also, Electric power tilt with controls mounted steering column and powerful 2-DIN DVD audio system.

Mileage:-

The all new Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire 2012 petrol is speculated to deliver 19.1 kmpl whereas the diesel version will return with figures of 23.4 kmpl as claimed by company.

On the other hand, Toyota Etios offers 18.3 kmpl of overall fuel economy for petrol variant while 23.59 kmpl is delivered by its diesel version.

Price:-

New Dzire 2012 is expected to fall in the similar price range of its predecessor which is Rs 4.94 lakh- Rs 7.30 lakh (Ex-showroom approximate).

Irresistible Etios is available within a price range of Rs 5.03 lakh – Rs 7.87 lakh (Ex-showroom approximate).
