On April 12th, 2012, Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its much anticipated utility vehicle, the Ertiga in the Indian auto market. With the introduction of this SUV, Maruti would open a niche segment for itself and the main blockage in its path would be Mahindra & Mahindra’s Bolero. The synonym of power, Bolero has been selling like hot cakes with growing sales numbers being registered month after month. However, Maruti Ertiga is also speculated to do the same magic with more appeal to urban car enthusiasts. To get a broad idea of the clash, let’s check out ertiga vs bolero how both these vehicles fare against each other on the basis of exteriors, interiors, engine, features, mileage and price.
Exteriors:-

Contemporary and sophisticated design of smart Maruti Ertiga makes its maneuvering perfect for the city traffic and narrow parking spaces. Peeled back clear headlamps, fabulous flare fenders, smart rear spoiler, newly designed extended tail lamps and overall sporty styling makes Maruti Suzuki Ertiga a pleasing vehicle to look at. Also, 15 inch alloy lifts the entire elegance of the compact machine.

The new Bolero Ex looks more upmarket and contemporary with new aggressive muscular bumpers and alluring classy grille with a new honey-comb mesh bestow the mighty vehicle with more aggressiveness. The head lamps have been more towards rounded shape this time round. Rear end boasts of stylish spare wheel cover embracing a sporty look in the new Bolero. The trendy wheel caps remind you of the character that this machine carries.

Interiors:-

Emphatic Ertiga is a 3-row, 7-seater utility vehicle with lot of cues borrowed from its Swift family member. Comfortable seats and employment of premium quality material with terrific fit and finish embraces a regal feeling inside the cabin. Boot space is awesome at 135 litres and with last row seats folded, it increases to 735 litres.

Mahindra Bolero Ex Interiors have also been given a touch of refreshment with new dual tone and luxuriously premium upholstery matching its exhilarating exteriors. The cool ergonomically placed comfortable seats sink you in a new world of fantasy, irrespective of the hard work done by the vehicle outside. The powerful AC vents are elegantly designed with a heater and a customizable cooling system.

Engine, Specifications & Performance:-

In Maruti Ertiga, a new K series engine, K14 VVT 1.4-litre petrol engine debuts which is capable of generating maximum power of 94 bhp at 6000 rpm along with ultimate torque of 13.2 kgm at 4000 rpm. Available with diesel option as well, Ertiga diesel is powered by 1.3L DDiS Super Turbo engine having the capability of churning out top power of 88 bhp at 4000 rpm and peak torque 20.4 kgm at 1750 rpm. Other specifications have not been known till date.

The powerful hood of the new Mahindra Bolero covers a new 2523 CC m2DiCR engine which is capable of producing maximum power of 46.3 kW at 3200 rpm and peak torque of 195 Nm at 1400-2200 rpm. The engine linked to 5-speed manual transmission, all synchromesh with overdrive in 5th gear.

Features:-

The all new Maruti Ertiga boasts of a three-spoke, tilt adjustable electric power steering, steering mounted audio controls, twin air-con, USB compatible audio unit, keyless entry and central locking. Besides, it has power windows with auto-down function, Multi-information Display (MID), electrically adjustable ORVMs and several others.

Whereas it’s Indian counterpart, Mahindra Bolero Ex is equipped with stylish AC vents, remote fuel lid opener, power steering, hawk-eye headlamps, rear center arm rest, ergonomic seats, and advance digital display. Also, Micro Hybrid System, Driver Information System, voice warning system, CD MP3 player, Wood-finish central console, Power windows, Front map pockets & utility pockets, Keyless entry, Rear wash & wipe and 12 V charging point.

Mileage:-

The electrifying Ertiga is speculated to offer 16.02 kmpl for its petrol variant and 20.77 kmpl for the diesel one while Mahindra Bolero delivers impressive ARAI fuel efficiency figures of 16 kmpl.
Price:-

Maruti Ertiga is speculated to be tagged over Rs 6 lakh (Ex-showroom approximate) whereas M&M’s Bolero is placed in the price bracket of Rs 6.33 lakh – Rs 6.96 lakh (Ex-showroom New Delhi).
