BMW Mini Cooper VS Volkswagen Beetle – Mini war now gets bigger (Expert Review)

BMW stunned the visitors at the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo by unveiling its marvelous Mini Cooper. Previously showcased in the Bollywood flick ‘Players’, BMW Mini Cooper has got the attention it deserved in the Indian subcontinent. Its German counterpart, Volkswagen has already been selling luxurious hatchback Beetle in this part of the world. With Mini Cooper’s introduction, the battle in the scarce yet potential luxury market is sure to beef up. The question of choosing anyone car between BMW Mini Cooper and Volkswagen Beetle is always tricky. Read on to know the comparison done on the basis of following:-

Exteriors:-

Crafted to perfection, BMW Mini Cooper is blessed with terrific exteriors having straighter looks from the side profile and curvy from the front fascia. Round chromed head lamps and chromed front grille with couple of broad lines painted on the bonnet accentuate the stunning beauty of the Mini. Alluring alloy wheels, Active Retractable Rear Spoiler, Polished Exhaust Tip, Rear bumper integrated reversing lights & fog lights, etc are some of the exterior features.

Contrarily, the new Volkswagen Beetle has got a bubbly kind of a structure. Beneath the intact hood of BMW Mini Cooper rests 1.6 litre motor belting out 98 bhp of maximum power and goes up to 184 bhp in the S variant while the diesel version is imparted with 1.6 litre engine yielding out 90 bhp of top power which goes up to 143 bhp in SD variant. The new Mini Cooper sprints from 0-100 kmph in 9.1 seconds while the sports version races from 0-100 kmph in 7.0 seconds.

On the other hand, Volkswagen Beetle is powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder in-line petrol engine, with the caliber to churn maximum power of 114.4 bhp at 5400 rpm and maximum torque of 172 Nm at 3200 rpm. The engine of Beetle is mated with a six-speed automatic tiptronic transmission. It can get over the speed slot of 0 – 100 kmph in a précised time of 11.2 seconds.

BMW Mini is low on fuel efficiency with just 5-6 kmpl overall mileage whereas VW Beetle delivers an impressive fuel economy of 8-9 kmpl in city conditions and 13 – 14 kmpl on highways.

Price:-

Beautiful BMW Mini Cooper falls in the price bracket of Rs 24.9 lakhs and goes up to Rs 31.99 lakhs whereas the Wow Volkswagen Beetle is placed in the price bracket of 21 lakhs to Rs. 22 lakhs (Ex-showroom approximate prices).
