These days its diesel diesel & diesel all over the Indian auto market and on the minds of car enthusiasts. But who is to be blamed for this turnaround? Any middle class person wanting a car would keep an eye on the fuel expenses and by looking at the soaring petrol prices, opting for diesel car is a wise option. After the fuel question is resolved than there is another one raised that in diesel vehicles which is  best small car to buy? Exteriors:-

The top diesel selling cars in B segment are Chevrolet Beat, Tata Indica eV2 and Ford Figo. Out of the three, Indica eV2’s design is the oldest and it shows. However, equipping the car with 14 inch alloys along with some graphical work ensures that it looks are enhanced. Looks of Chevy Beat are the most ecstatic out of the three with large double barreled headlamps and beautiful aerodynamic sporty styling. Ford Figo is the most decent and sober one in the lot with elegant styling and strong overall build up.

Interiors:-

As evident from outside there are no surprises that Beat and Figo have the latest gadgets and jazzy appearance while Tata Indica eV2 offers just the practical cabin. Beat and Figo have a long list of features along with more comfortable interiors and good plastic quality. Contrarily, Indica eV2 boasts of low quality plastic with nothing more than basic interior features but the cabin space is pretty good. However, it should be noted here that the Tata vehicle is the cheapest of the lot.

Figo and Indica eV2 have the spacious cabin with good leg and head room for the rear ones however; in Beat the knee part does bruises against the front seats.

Engine:-

Chevrolet Beat boasts of a 936cc diesel engine which is the same 1.3 litre mutijet engine with one cylinder removed. This is the smallest diesel engine available in the Indian auto market. The powermill is very refined with low noise and vibration and delivers excellent mileage of around 20 kmpl. Importantly, the mileage of trio is more or less similar. Besides, the driver is left for wanting more on highways as the engine lacks that thrust to overtake others out in the open.

However, this is not the case with Figo’s 1.4-litre DuraTorq engine which is low on noise & vibration part and is definitely the best performer in comparison to other cars in its segment. Driving in city traffic or on highways is not a problem with the American car.

Domestic car maker’s Indica eV2 has the 1.4 litre CRDi engine in a more refined version than its predecessors. The best power churner and the most responsive in the three cars, Indica eV2 has the lowest NVH levels (Noise, Vibration and Harshness). Though, transmission of the Tata hatchback is a little bit sluggish in nature.

Ride and Handling quality:-

You can’t complain much in this part because these vehicles are not produced to blaze on the roads. In this part, Beat and Indica eV2 have the same sort of ride and handling with a little body roll. Suspension system easily digests small pot holes on the road.

On the other hand, Ford Figo is a fabulous vehicle when it comes to ride and handling as its suspension is better equipped to deal with the speed droppers. Responsive steering works perfect in tandem with Figo’s suspension set up.

Verdict :-

Figo is the best of the cars up in the competition thanks to its superb handling and ride quality and exhaustive feature list. However, it is the most expensive one of the lot. For the entry level buyers wanting a trendier car with decent budget should go for Chevy Beat which offers many things in affordable price range. While for those wanting a car with good mileage and interior space should opt for the Tata Indica eV2.
